INTRODUCTION

Government Arts College, Ooty is the main centre of Higher Education in the Nilgiri District. The college is situated in the center of the Ooty town at the top of the historical Stone House Hill. The Historical first building in the Nilgiris named the Stone House Hill is the part of the college.

Before independence the present building of the college was the summer secretariat of the British Madras Presidency. Still today the OAK planted by Lord Sullivan in 18th Century and the two other OAK trees planted by Lord & Lady Wellington, in college garden, when Ooty celebrates 100 Years. College is situated in a serene splendid atmosphere of the olden ‘Wothkalmund’ (Pronounced as Ootacamund by Engish people and presently Udhagamandalam). The college is offering Graduation, Post Graduation and Research in almost all disciplines.

Students are required to be dressed neatly and decently.
Ragging is punishable. Students involved in such acts will be adequately punished.
Students who come late should get prior permission from the staffs.
Without prior permission students should not enter the office room, staff room or laboratory.
